Linguistics is the scientific study of language. In the 19th century language study was meant by the history of language or comparative study of language, which was called philology. This field of study was not scientific. In the 20th Century it became scientific. Now the modern scientific study of language takes all aspects of language into account.

This article starts with the explanation of Linguistics along with its scientific manner of study. The basic and main point of this article is to explain the importance and novelty of linguistics in the present age. Linguistics has connected to such big and important fields of social sciences, computers, medical sciences and Law slowing its compatibility toward the modern world. Now gradually making its way towards AI and proving itself a vast field of modern sciences.

Modern linguistics is considered to be an applied science as well as an academic field of general study. Linguistics encompasses many branches and sub-fields that span both theoretical and practical applications.
