Abstract

Language is a medium of expressing our thoughts and sentiments. Through this, we are able to convey our thoughts efficiently to others. "َDialect" is a sub-branch of language. Due to variation of regional characteristics in a big linguistic circle or among people living in a wide area, numerous dialects of a parent language are born. According to linguists, there is no difference between a language and its dialect as both follow certain rules, but a language has a script (Rasmul Khat). This research article discusses various types of dialect. Regional dialect, social dialect and its further types i.e. slang, jargon, cant and argot are also taken into account.
