Maulvi Abdul Haq opened a new door of editing in Urdu language and gave life to various primitive and classical Urdu texts. As well he assembled a team of great scholars of the time to accomplish these seemingly unattainable tasks. Perceiving this Rasheed Hassan Khan identify him as “Gilchrist of the age”. Intikhab e Kalam e Meer was one of his edited work which illuminate Meer himself and his poetry. In that era research, editing and annotation principles were improving from scratch wherefore these earliest editing have some flaws. This article renders a modern analytical study of the text and a critical analysis on “Muqaddimah” by Maulvi Abdul Haq. Besides, it discusses on primary and secondary editions and couplet choosing preferences.
