Abstract

Mohan Singh Diwana,a lecturer in Oriental College,Lahore before partition was a famous punjabi poet and research scholar.He has the first authentic history of Punjabi Liiterature to hcritical viewsis credit. People rarely know that he wrote a handbook of Urdu literature which is important for its . This book highlights the specific point of view of non-Muslim Urdu writers about Urdu language and literature. This paper analyses the classification of Urdu literature in differant eras, the discription of prominent poets and writers of a certain era, its languistic characteristics, skirmishes between poets and background of Urdu-Hindi dispute as discussed in this book. Though this book is brief, it cannot be ignored.
