Abstract

On the occasion of the centenary celebration of the birth of the great thinker, poet and writer Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal (1877 to 1938), celebrations were held at all stations of Radio Pakistan. In these programs, well-known personalities of the country presented their views on Iqbal's personality, thought and art. The singers presented Kalam-e-Iqbal in their melodious voices. From Lahore station, Sheikh Abdul Qadir, Dr. MD Taseer, Dr. Saeedullah, Maulana Ghulam Rasool Mehr, Sufi Tabasim, Khalifa Abdul Hakeem and Nazir Niazi highlighted the thought and philosophy of Iqbal. Atiya Faizi's English speech IQBAL AS I KNOW HIM was broadcast from Karachi station in 1948. From Radio Lahore on April 21, 1948, the feature "Alam-e- Soz-o-Saz" written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz was effective. A series of programs were presented by Radio Pakistan Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore and other stations under the title Mard Momin K. Ishaq Amar Tasri from Karachi Station, later Hameed Naseem, Maulana Salahuddin Ahmed and Sufi Tabasim from Lahore continued to transmit and promote the Kalam and Payam-e-Iqbal. "Iqbal's influence on different minds" Radio Pakistan Peshawar Dr. Raziuddin's thought-provoking speech with this title is also a part of Iqbaliyat. Hameed Naseem's program from Radio Pakistan Karachi, "Masjid e Qurtuba" was always memorable, and a series of speeches was broadcast from Radio Pakistan Rawalpindi under the title "Chiragh-i-Rah". Radio Pakistan broadcasted the poem "Shikwah o Jawab-i-Shikwah" in the voices of Umm e Kulsoom and Malkah Tarnam Noor Jahan. Centenary celebrations were organized on the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal in 1977. The programs of the first part consisted of January to April 21, 1977. The second part consisted of programs from April 22, 1977 to the end of the year. In addition to special national programs, regional and all radio stations special programs were also included.
