Abstract
This study examines the psychoanalytic dimensions present in literature, with a particular focus on how an artist internalises and then externalises an entire universe shaped by personal experiences and emotions. As the creator of such a world, the artist’s works inevitably mirror their inner turmoil and complexities. Shakeb Jalali, a modern Urdu poet whose life was marked by profound tragedies, exemplifies this phenomenon. Despite his short lifespan, Jalali emerged as a prominent voice among contemporary poets. His poetry is deeply influenced by personal losses, societal injustices, betrayal by friends, and a pervasive sense of neglect, culminating ultimately in his tragic suicide. This paper aims to critically examine the psychological factors that left lasting imprints on Shakeb Jalali’s creative consciousness and are vividly reflected in his poetry.
