Abstract

Jilani Bano(1936) is an Indian Urdu fiction writer who has made the domestic and social life of women and their problems in all herliterary works. The time when she started her literary life was the last period of the rise of the Progressive movement. Hyderabad Deccan (India) was going through a period of political chaos and emergency. The feudal environment and society were ending. In her novels Aiwan-e-Ghazal (1976) and Barish-e-Sang(1985), she has made the subject of women's helplessness, psychological problems and exploitation in the decadent feudal society.Where women are considered speechless and second-class creatures. Her freedom is taken away by imposing unnecessary restrictions. They are considered as a mere means of sexual indulgence.Among the important theorists of feminist thought, the French writer Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986) has also described the oppression of women in the feudal system. Simon always remained in the forefront of the struggle for women's rights. In her book The Second Sex(1949), Simon discussed the existence of women and their exploitation. She explained the gender and sexual problems of women openly. According to Simon, women as a gender are considered as a despised and inferior thing. She is treated as a second-class creature, she is deprived of economic, political and sexual autonomy. A man considers a woman as his fief and asserts his right of ownership over her. In the feudal system, such words are used for men and women which prove that men are superior and women are inferior. According to Simon, this world has always belonged to men and there is only their domination. In the light of the ideas expressed by Simon de Beauvoir in her book The Second Sex, the novels Aiwan-e- Ghazal and Barish-e- Sang by Jilani Bano will be analyzed.
