Abstract

Urdu poetry has progressed over the years and contains the grasp of civilization in sub-continent. In its all genres it has conveyed meanings not from the dictionaries but also surfaced the layers and merged them in between people of society. A brief and researched study of modern Urdu Poetry, especially Urdu Nazam tells us that how it took scars from Indian Civilization and proved its roots from other civilizations. This long journey of modern Urdu Nazam has been discussed in this article which also contains references of all modern Urdu poets such as Iqbal, Josh, Rashid, Faiz and Meera Ji through which the researcher has proved the said thesis of Civilizational contact and modern Urdu Nazam over decades.
