Abstract

During every age ghazal has expressed the pains and tribulations of contemporary society. But the way modern ghazal has expressed it, is unparalleled. Today's poet of ghazal is faced with a new kind of torment: hunger, poverty, joblessness, social injustice, class discrimination, lack of peace, plunder and moral decadence. It has made human life miserable. This article intends to probe present age anxiety by quoting relevant verses and shows how the feelings of contemporary sufferings are becoming part of modern poetry.
