Nostalgia is Qurrat-ul-Ain's favourite theme and the characters of her novels, novelettes and short stories appear to be lost in the past.

She herself experienced the pain and agony of migration very intensely after the independence. In her novelette "Housing Soceity", Qurrat-ul-Ain has narrated all such events and incidents of the post-independence suffering of the refugees, their social and economic status, psycological state and the moral decline of the nouveau riche.
