A critical review of Anwar Masood’s Punjabi poetry collection “Mela Akhian Da” in relation to Urdu and Punjabi languages

Anwar Masood is a famous Pakistani poet and well known educationist. He is known for his comic poetry. However, his works include other genres. His poetry is in three languages like Urdu, Punjabi and Persian as well. His poetry is a very unique piece of poetry due to his use of everyday and bilingual phrases. His words are full of amazing commonplace phrases. “Mela Akhian Da” is an excellent collection of Punjabi poetry by Anwar Masood. It contains many super hit funny poems by Anwar Masood .Urdu and Punjabi languages are related for thousands of years. Both languages developed in the same family. In areas where several languages are spoken, one language influences the other in various ways and their words merge into each other in an imperceptible way. In this way, one language has a deep relationship with another language. In this paper, Mela Akhianda will be critically evaluated regarding the relationship between Urdu and Punjabi languages.
