Abstract
The all-embracing impact of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s movement are evident on all the genres of Urdu, especially on Urdu fiction. Moulvi Nazeer Ahmed Dehlvi and Allama Rashil-ul-Khairi are the two novelists who were much inspired by him. Nazeer Ahmed was the first ever Urdu novelist who fought for the cause of feminist interesrs. Some of the women novelists of Urdu who were inspired by Sir Syed got their fiction published under pen-names as women were not supposed to write fiction in those days. This paper analyses Urdu’s early women novelists from this point of view.
