Abstract
Sir Syed and Iqbal are the renowned and stalwart authors of Urdu. They both have influenced the struggle and quest for power of Muslims of South Asia in the 19th and 20th centuries. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan being a humanist and modernist of his time, influenced Iqbal through his various works such as Tehzeeb-ul-Akhlaq, Assar-us-Sanadeed and many more. Iqbal also introduced a unique way of appraisal to his mentor and in his famous poem Javed Naama paid a tribute to Sir Syed’s teaching and services in the domain of literature, society, politics and science. This article traces down the verses of Javed Naama in which Iqbal dedicated his craft to Sir Syed. The reasearcher also proved that in what ways Sir Syed has inspired Iqbal’s intellect.
