Abstract

Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was a great scholar. He awaked the Muslim nation from dreaming. He firmly believed that Muslim society would not progress without the acquisition of western education and scientific knowledge. His educational and political work grew increasingly centered around and exclusively for Muslim interests. He was a great advocate of Urdu language. Sir Syed presented Urdu as the symbol of Muslim heritage and as the language of Indian Muslims. His contribution towards unleashing some literary trends was instrumental. This article evaluates his impact on Urdu’s literary genres and trends.
