Shibli No'mani is among the writers who played a vital role in subcontinent's mental, social and educational revolution. Almost all of Shibli's writings have been collected, edited and published. But the speech he made at Aligarh College on July 31,1882, has not yet been reproduced and even Syed Sulaiman Nadvi's works on Shibli do not include this speech. The article gives the historical background and reproduces the speech, extracted from August 5,1882, issue of Aligarh Institute Gazette.
