Abstract
History is recorded in different ways and aside from historical sources some non-historical works, too, such as literary writings, record the history, albeit indirectly and with a different perspective. Similarly, the sources on the history of the Indo-Pak subcontinent are found as both historical and literary works. In Urdu, there are a number of such works and these historical and literary writings have captured the essence of the decline and fall of India. These tomes in Urdu have also explained the reasons behind the social and political chaos of India in certain periods. The article traces and analyses such works and describes the reasons as narrated by the authors of these works.
